The Kite Runner

At first I didin't like the book "The Kite Runner" because I didin't understand it but then as we were reading along I was starting to understand it. And now I really like it, I think it's a sad book. My favorite character is Hassan because I think he was a good friend to Amir even though Amir made Hassan suffer, I think he really loved him as a friend. I really admire Baba for his bravory because he was a good man that believes in justice and honesty. I admire him because he stood up for a women who was about to get reped. The character I hated the most was Asseff because he raped Hassan for no reason. He also didin't like hassaras.Even though Amir was a coward that didin't stand up for Hassan when he was getting raped and made him suffer a lot I believe he is a good person.

Cool Salsa

I did like the book because every poem has a meaning to it. Even though I can't write poetry and have a difficult time understanding it I think its nice how someone tells their little short story in a rhydim. I liked some of the poems because I could relate to them.

My three Goals

One of my goal is to finish english and math credits before this semester ends. The steps that Im going to take in order to acheive this gaols are to come to school everyday, and maybe if I have time finish the book dawn gave me for extra credit. My second goal is to finish my history credit. I am going to finish the book of history so I can complete my credits. My third goal is to come early every day because I am loosing points by coming late. Im going to put my alarm one hour before.

Rihanna

I agree with Rhianna, that if you are in a abusive relationship you should leave immediately before someone gets hurt. At first I didint think that celebreties could be in abusive relationships but now I know that they can and have. They are human beings just like us. I believe that anybody who's in an abusive relationship should leave the relationship, especially if there kids involved. If they can't leave because their partner is too abusive they should get help from someone else. If I was her I would of done the same thing and just leave. I think that there are some celebrities that have been in abusive relationships but are affraid of what people or their fans are going to say, so they just stay in the relationship. So I think Rihanna did the right thing and she didin't care about what they thought of her and she really gave a good example to other women who are in abusive relationships.

Tears of a Tiger

I liked Tears of a Tiger because it is based on every teenagers life. I can relate to that story because a few months ago my cousins friend got in a car crash and died. It was her and three other teenagers, they were coming from a party, were drinking, and crashed. Three of them died including her, but only one survived. I would recomend this book to everyone because I know someone knows someone that has died in a car crash for drunk driving.

STOP THE VIOLENCE

I think that the type of violence that affects young teenage women is threatning abuse. I think that it affects them the most because I have seen many girls in abusive relationships that they want to get out of, but are scared because their partner threatends them by saying that if they leave they are going to take the kids from them, they're going to commit suicide, hurt them or someone they love,etc... I have once been in a type of threatning relationship before. I didin't want to be with him anymore and broke up with him several times but every time I'd try to break up with him he'd get really drunk and start to do crazy things like crash his car on purpose, wouldn't go to work, tried to hurt himself, etc... People use to say it was my fault and that I should be with him or else he was gonna end up killing himself. At first I started to believe it. So I kept getting back together with him. Afterwards I started thinking that he was ruinning my life and I shouldn't be with him if I don't like him, so I decided to leave him for sure. At first he did do all his disaster and all, but then I talked to him in a mature and understanding way, I stayed away from him, and did not listen to annyone. As time passed he got over me. The advice that I would give other girls in similar situation is to get help, talk to someone and leave him before you or someone you love ends up getting hurt. I would also say to not believe his threats because the law is on your side.

  1. I think Thomas Jefferson did not keep his promise towards the Cherokees because the U.S. government and the whites wanted the Cherokees rich land, their wood, oil, and crpos.

  2. Some examples of how the Chrokees became acculturated was: that they adapted their government to the U.S. model of government, build schools, and some became Christians.

  3. The indians had lost ninety million acres of reservation land. The Dawes severalty stated stated that, after each Indian had received their allotment, it was declared "surplus land" and the land that the Indiand did no use was sold to non-Indians. The land that was sold to them was poor and not good for farming.

  4. Cheif Joseph is the leader of The Nez Perce, he was furious because they agreed to move to a reservation in 1855,but were later told to leave when gold was discovered there. "Joseph outsmarted the government soldiers over and over again with his superior military tactics".Captain Jack engaged in the U.S. Army because they were forced onto a reservation in Oregon to live with old tribal enemies who continued to torment them.

  5. The constitution said that Native Americans land will be respected, but those rights were not respected because Andrew Jackson as the president over ruled that law because he and the whites wanted their land and researches like oil, wood, and the crops so he took it from them.

  6. If I were an Indian ordered to move west, I would fight for my rights. I would go to the court and say that "we are being kicked out of our property", and in the constitution it said that "land will not be taken from Indians without their consent,"because I wouldn't want my family to have to go through all that suffering.

obamas speech

A line I remember and resonated with me was that he said that you wont succeed at everything you do the first time. I think I resonated with that line because sometimes I dont succeed the first time I do something and then I give up.

Three words I remember Obama said were:commit, try, sucess

Obama has inspied me to try my best and to not give up, to be someone in life, and education is the only way to success.

Obama was tring to say that no one knows what yourfuture is and no one can tell you what to do, only you can do what you want to do.

I want a career that helps poor people and I think I can contribute to my country by helping feed hungry people. Im not only going to get payed but Im doing it by helping others.

Charactierization

Dot would be considered a subordinate character in this chapter because she doesn't mean anything to cupcake. She just uses her to still stuff for her, for her own benefits. So what ever Dot does, it doesn't affect Cupcake in any way.She doesn't affect the plot.
A dynamic Characer in the story is Cupcake because she changes her personality by the different people she hangs around with.
A static character is Mr, Burns because he never changes in the story. He always wants the money and doesn't care about his kids and never will.

  • Do not just walk in and eat
  • it is considered rude
  • Japanese respect food
  • they eat with wooden chop sticks

  • one stick will rest between the forefinger and middle finger/the other between the middle and ring finger.
  • pick up bowl of soup with one hand and sip on the edge
  • slurping is a good sign of a good appetite
